Fixed Cage Ladder Installation — Modular by Design
Fixed Cage Ladder Installation – Bolt-On Retrofit
Bolt-On Retrofit
Add a compliant safety cage to an existing fixed ladder — no need to replace the whole ladder. Engineered for bolt-on retrofit with M12 anchoring.
Flat-Pack Shipping
Ladder and cage components nest into compact flat-pack crates, cutting freight volume and shipping cost on export projects.
Fast Assembly
Bolt-together modular components with hardware and assembly drawings included — most standard installations complete in a single shift.
Cage Ladder Mounting Specifications
Cage Ladder Mounting Specifications
Mount → Assemble → Verify. Every modular installation follows a transparent three-step process.
- 1. Mount
Anchor brackets to the structure with M12 fixings — retrofit or new-build
- 2. Assemble
Bolt together ladder sections, hoops and straps with the included hardware
- 3. Verify
Check dimensions against the drawing and confirm compliance with the DoC

One Piece or Modules — How the Configuration Is Chosen
The split between a single ladder and a bolted module set is an engineering and freight decision we make with you, not an afterthought.
The starting point is length. A single hot-dip galvanized piece is practical up to 14 m — beyond handling limits for galvanizing and road transport, a taller climb ships as bolted modules. Height also decides the safety architecture: under EN ISO 14122-4 the cage starts around 3 m with a rest platform every 6 m, while OSHA's framework fixes ladder safety system duties by the 24 ft threshold and the November 18, 2036 end of cage grandfathering. Whichever code governs your site, the layout follows it.
Choosing modules changes nothing about strength or compliance — splice connections are pre-drilled, engineered and covered by the structural calculation sheet — but it changes everything about logistics. Flat-packed hoops, straps and ladder sections nest into compact export crates, cutting freight volume on container shipments and multi-ladder projects. Each module is trial-assembled at the factory, so the bolt holes you meet on site have already met their bolts once.
For retrofits, modularity has a second advantage: a cage can be added to a sound existing fixed ladder with brackets alone, no cutting or welding on your structure — the cheapest path to compliance when the ladder itself is still good.
A Fixed Ladder Is Only as Fixed as Its Evidence
The Fixing Evidence Pack That Ships With Every Wall-Mounted Order
Anyone can sell you steel. What survives the decade is the paper and hardware that proves the steel went up right. Five items in the crate, and the day each one earns its keep.
| Item in the Crate | What It Proves | The Day It Saves You |
|---|---|---|
| M12 anchor schedule | fixing positions engineered for your wall substrate | drilling day — the crew sets anchors to plan, not to habit |
| Torque table in the drawing pack | every bolt size with its set value | installation day — and every re-inspection for years after |
| Standoff bracket set | the 200 mm clearance at 1,800 mm centres is built in, not shimmed on site | inspection day — the cage sits where the drawing says |
| Trial-assembly photo set | your modules bolted together at the factory before packing | the day a bolt fights — proof it once fit, so the problem is the wall, not the ladder |
| Loading photo archive, kept 10 years | what shipped and how it was braced | audit or insurance day, long after the invoice is paid |
The pack is standard — not a premium option. Ask your sales engineer to walk through it on your first order.
Fixed Means Finished Right
What a Factory-Engineered Fixed Installation Gets You
Five rows of difference between a ladder that bolts up clean and one that becomes a project.
| Feature | Advantage | Your Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| One-piece builds up to 14 m | no splices where the structure allows | fewer joints, fewer inspection points, shorter install |
| Pre-drilled module splices | connections covered by the structural calculation sheet | tall climbs stay compliant without site welding |
| Drawing approval gate | nothing is cut until you sign the geometry | the ladder matches the wall, because you saw it on paper first |
| Compliance file with the crate | DoC, MTC 3.1 and calcs for OSHA 1910.28 / EN ISO 14122-4 | the fixed asset is a documented asset |
| Remote install support | engineer on video at anchors, modules and cage closing | factory supervision included, not invoiced |
