Maintenance Planning
Spares Replacement Planner
Rather than replacing parts on a fixed calendar, high-performing sites order spares against scheduled inspections — each component is swapped the moment its inspection finding crosses the line. The planner below pairs every standard part with what inspectors actually look for and the finding that should trigger an order. Because we retain production and QC records for 10 years, a part bought today can be re-matched to the same specification years later, and every replacement ships with the documentation your inspector will ask to see next cycle.
Stock the fast movers — gate hardware and fixings — and order structural items like hoops and rungs against findings; standard parts ship in 15–25 working days, with made-to-order parts confirmed case by case in your 24-hour quote.
| Component | Inspect For | Order Trigger | Standard Spec |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rungs | Deformation, corrosion pitting | Any bend or section loss — protects the 1.5 kN rating | Φ20 mm @ 280 mm |
| Cage hoops | Weld cracks at strap joints | Any crack, per ISO 5817 Level C criterion | 40×5 mm @ 1500 mm |
| Vertical straps | Thinning at the splash zone | Visible section loss | 30×3 mm |
| Gate hardware | Self-closing action, latch bite | Gate fails to close or latch | Hinges and springs field-replaceable |
| Fixings | Tension loss, mixed plating | Missing or mismatched sets | Bolt-on, supplied per ladder schedule |
Master Part File — Codes Across the Whole Cage Ladder
One Code Table for Every Wear Part on the Climb
From rungs to roof exits, the parts that wear are the parts we number. Keep this file with the asset register and every reorder becomes a code, a quantity and a confirmed price.
| Ordering Code | Part | Spec | Ex-Works Band |
|---|---|---|---|
| DT-P1-RG | Rung, welded replacement section | Φ20 mm bar at 280 mm spacing, 1.5 kN rating | quoted per piece |
| DT-P2-HP | Cage hoop | 40×5 mm flat, rolled Φ700 mm | quoted per piece |
| DT-P3-ST | Cage strap | 30×3 mm, hooping between bars | quoted per piece |
| DT-P4-GT | Self-closing gate | Φ700 entry, spring return | $60–180 |
| DT-P5-WT | Walk-through exit group | top exit rails and knee rail, bolt-on | $90–250 |
| DT-P6-PF | Rest platform module | mid-climb landing with handhold | $150–400 |
| DT-P7-FX | Bracket and bolt set | wall or structure fixing hardware | quoted per set |
Replacement triggers by part family
- Rungs — any rung with visible corrosion loss at the weld, a bend, or a history of impact is cut out and replaced by code; never straighten a yielded rung
- Hoops and straps — deformation, missing straps or cracked hoop joints trigger coded replacement; containment geometry is not a repair-in-place item
- Gates — the release test governs; a leaf that no longer closes and latches alone is a service set or a new gate by code
- Platforms — check the fixing bolts and the walk surface each round; a platform that moves under foot is condemned until re-fastened
- Fasteners — thread corrosion at coastal and chemical sites makes bolt sets a standing spares line, not an emergency purchase
Sizing Parts Against the Ladder on Your Wall
Six Measurements That Match Any Part to Any Existing Climb
Factory parts fit factory ladders by default — but ten years of installs taught us to check six dimensions before shipping parts against a ladder we did not build. One tape, one photo, one hour.
| Measure This | How | Parts It Governs |
|---|---|---|
| Clear climbing width | inside rail to inside rail | rung length — our standard is 500 mm |
| Rung diameter and spacing | caliper the bar, count centers | rung code and bracket positions — standard Φ20 at 280 mm |
| Cage diameter at entry and mid-climb | across hoops, inside faces | hoops, straps, gates — standard Φ700 mm |
| Hoop section and centers | caliper the flat, measure hoop-to-hoop | hoop and strap codes — standard 40×5 at 1500 mm |
| Stringer section | caliper the side rail profile | brackets and fixing sets |
| Finish present | color, texture, magnet test | HDG versus SS versus aluminium — parts match the parent metal |
Common parts-ordering mistakes
- Mixing metals on one assembly — stainless bolts in HDG steel or aluminium parts on steel rails set up galvanic pairs; parts match the parent climb
- Ordering rungs without rail access — welded rung replacement needs the cage section clear; if access is impossible, order the rail section instead
- Guessing quantities from photos — a photo hides strap counts; walk the climb with the table above and the quote lands right first time

Five Things Buying Parts From the Ladder's Own Factory Changes
The factory that rolled your hoops keeps their dies, drawings and records — and that shows up in five specific ways below.
| Feature | Advantage | Your Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Coded parts with open bands | $60–180 gates, $90–250 exits, $150–400 platforms | spares budgeting is arithmetic, not enquiry letters |
| Drawings archived 10 years | your exact geometry on file at the factory | repeat parts quote in hours, no re-survey |
| Every part ships with certificates | MTC-traceable metal, ISO 5817 C welds | replacement parts keep the asset auditable |
| Fit check in the 24 h quote | six measurements verified before dispatch | the part bolts on, not back and forth |
| MOQ 1 on spares | single parts get full factory QC | one hoop or one gate ships like a project order |
