Why One Engineered System Beats Three Separate Purchases

Most tall access routes are assembled, not designed: a ladder from one catalogue, a platform from another, a gate from a third. Each component is individually compliant, yet the interfaces are engineered on site by whoever is holding the drill. A cage ladder system with platform removes that risk by moving the interfaces into the factory. The platform deck meets the top rung at the height the calculation assumed. The 1100 mm guardrails line up with the cage handrails so hand contact never breaks during the exit. The anchor plan beneath the platform is the same plan the ladder's brackets use, so loads flow into the structure through one verified path rather than three competing ones.

The trial assembly in our workshop proves the interfaces before anything is boxed — the photographs in your compliance file show the system standing complete, exactly as your crew will rebuild it.

The Top of the Climb, Decided on Paper

Rest Platform, Walk-Through Top or Full System — Which Does Your Climb Need

Platforms exist because standards and knees both have limits. Match your climb to the right configuration now, and the top of the ladder will not need re-engineering later.

ConfigurationChoose It WhenCost LineDo Not Choose It When
Cage ladder aloneshort single climb, cage from 2.2 m in our standard EN build, top exit is a step-across at grade levelbaseline $95/m HDGclimb exceeds your standard's platform interval — rest stops stop being optional
Ladder + rest platformstall stacks where the standard mandates landings — one every 6 m under EN ISO 14122-4platforms $150–400 eachwork happens at the top only — intermediate platforms add inspection points you must maintain
Walk-through top + handrailsthe exit is a roof edge; climbers need to step through, not around, the handrail linegate $60–180, handrails engineered with the platformlocal code asks for a dedicated landing — walk-through alone may not satisfy it
Full system with platformthe platform is a workplace — inspection routines, valve access, monitoring equipmentone BOM, one compliance file, tiers at 10 / 50+you only need transit access — a working platform is budget spent twice

Borderline case? Send the climb height and what happens at the top — our engineers will pick the row for you, in the free drawing review, before you commit.

Access Ladder With Cage And Platform FAQ

What does a ladder system with platform include?
The complete system is one engineered kit: the cage ladder, the landing or rest platform and handrails, designed as one unit and shipped from one factory.
Is the platform engineered as part of the system?
Yes — the platform and handrails are engineered with the ladder as one unit, so heights, fixings and load paths all match.
Do you provide compliance documents?
Yes — OSHA and EN ISO 14122-4 compliance with DoC and structural calculations included with every system order.
Is system design free?
Yes — a free system design and itemized quote within 24 hours, with the whole kit priced as one unit.
How do ladder and platform loads work together in one system?
One load path, one calculation set. The platform transfers climber loads into the same anchor plan the ladder uses, and the structural calculation sheet in your documentation covers both together — no reconciliation between two suppliers' assumptions.
Can the platform carry a gate or a future flight extension?
Yes. Self-closing gates at $60–180 bolt to the platform frame, and because the system is modular by design, an additional flight and platform can join the same route later using the documented anchor geometry.
What guardrail height does the platform include?
Guardrails stand 1100 mm at the platform edge, matching the walk-through handrail height so a climber moves from cage to platform to guardrail without a gap in hand contact. Toe boards and intermediate rails are confirmed in the system drawing.
Does a system with platform ship as one crate or several?
Several, by design. Ladder flights, platforms and handrails pack as matched, trial-assembled sections — export packing is itemized in the quote, and walk-through exit groups run $90–250 as an option. The sections were assembled together in the workshop and photographed, so site crews rebuild exactly what we assembled.
